Digestive comfort after moving cities — a homeopathy journey
One patient's experience with digestive discomfort after moving cities for work — the shift to a new city brought changes in water, food, hours and stress — and a Sehat Ji online consultation. Anonymised — details changed.
Where they started
A 28-year-old had relocated to Mumbai for work. Within a few weeks the change of water, food, hours and stress showed up as acidity, occasional bloating and irregular digestion. Common OTC options helped only briefly.
The first consultation
A 40-minute video consultation. The homoeopath's questions covered the specific timing pattern — what triggered the discomfort, how meals felt, what time of day was worst — plus sleep, work stress and general mood.
What changed
Over the following weeks the pattern settled and digestion felt more predictable. There were still occasional off days, especially after very heavy meals or particularly late nights. Two follow-up consultations helped refine the approach as the pattern shifted with the new routine.
What the case-taking covered that a quick clinic visit would not have
A gastro consultation would have focused on the acidity itself — timing, triggers, medication history. The homeopathic case-taking went wider on purpose. Was the pattern worse at specific times of day? Did particular food textures or temperatures make a difference? How had sleep changed with the move? Was there a mood shift alongside the digestive one? Did he feel physically chilly or warm, thirsty or not? The point of each of those questions was to find a remedy that matched the whole shift, not just the chief complaint, because for a classical homoeopath the chief complaint is where the pattern surfaces, not the pattern itself.
What settled first, and what took longer
The acidity settled first — within about three weeks the OTC frequency dropped sharply. The bloating was slower, probably because it tracked meal timing and workload more than anything else. By about eight weeks the overall digestive baseline felt stable enough that heavy-meal off-days felt like exceptions, not the norm. The patient's own reflection: the physical change was clear, but the bigger shift was feeling that his body wasn't actively fighting the new city any more — just living in it.
